In a recent development, the Anglo India Jute Mill located in Jagaddal has shut its operations since Wednesday morning, leaving around three thousand employees unemployed. The closure comes in the wake of reported dissatisfaction among the workers regarding the mill's management practices.
While the mill authority has not officially communicated the reasons behind the closure, workers have expressed longstanding grievances, citing oppressive working conditions and excessive workloads at all levels. A major concern raised by the workers is the alleged imposition of mandatory overtime, leading to significant challenges for the mill employees. In response to the closure, the Bhatpara police force has been deployed at the mill gate to prevent any potential untoward situations.
